Hello, Alex, what a coincidence. When we were looking for a house to move into, we also made an offer for a house in Lakeside. Unfortunately the offer wasn't accepted. Otherwise, we could be living in the same street now. I am a mechanical engineer by training. I haven't practiced very much myself, so I had a structure engineer to do the calculation of the beam, However, I also spent some time to re-read my uni stuff just to ensure I agree with the structure engineer's assessment. If you still have questions, I am more than happy to help answer (or to try at least). You obviously know where I live. You are welcome to come to see the final result if you want to. It will be nice to meet you.
